About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified EMDR Therapist committed to helping people reach their goals of healing, taking control of their lives and moving forward. I work with children, teens and adults, both in my private practice and in my work at a homeless shelter. I have a special interest in helping people heal from violence.
My undergraduate education was at Harvard. I majored in Fine Arts and graduated cum laude in 1977. I moved to Los Angeles to work in the entertainment business and after a variety of production and development jobs I left the business and started my own publishing company. Perspective Publishing’s mission, “Helping Parents, Inspiring Kids,” has been fulfille d through publication of several award-winning parenting and children’s books.
As a continuation of my commitment to helping others, I returned to school and graduated on the Dean’s List from USC School of Social Work in 2004. My clinical training includes internships at Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry, Huntington Hospital Employee Assistance Program and a summer internship at UCLA Parenting & Children’s Friendship Program. Since graduation I have worked with both adults and children as a therapist at a community mental health center, a residential treatment program for abused children, and an adult drug and alcohol residential treatment center. In 2006 I completed EMDR Training Levels 1 and 2, and since then EMDR has been an integral part of my practice. In 2009 I completed additional training to become a Certifed EMDR Therapist.
I was licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences in 2007 and opened a private practice in 2008. I continue to serve the wider community through pro bono clinical work for the Soldiers Project and other groups.
